Characteristics

Chitosan is a natural biodegradable polysaccharides derived from shrimp or crab shell. It is non-toxic and has excellent anti-microbial and hemostatic properties.

From Chitin to Chitosan

Chitosan is a β-1,4-linked polymer of glucosamine (2-amino-2-deoxy-β-D-glucose) and lesser amounts of N-acetylglucosamine. It is a derivative of chitin (poly-N-acetylglucosamine).
